Say hello to our Boring® Friends and their Neat Places, Tessa from Peaches.

Tucked into a bright corner of Linwood Village, Peaches is the kind of spot that becomes part of the neighbourhood’s rhythm. Tessa lives nearby. When the space came up, she quietly got to work. A few months later, Peaches was open and bringing life back to this quiet little pocket of Ōtautahi.
We asked Tessa a few boring questions so you can get to know her better.

Tell us a little bit about your role at Peaches?
I live just down the road from Linwood Village, and when I saw a space become available, I immediately started plotting. There was a real gap for a great coffee spot where the community could come together. At first, it was just a vacant office, so it became my quiet little side project, with many hours spent obsessing over the interior. Now, seeing Peaches filled with people, it’s transformed from an empty shell into a busy little hub. I love watching more people wander these streets, and knowing we’ve created a place for locals to gather.
What is your favourite Christchurch meal?
Whatever Will and Finbar are making at Lillies, always.
What’s something in Christchurch you think everyone should experience at least once?
Margaret Mahy Playground! It’s such a wild, contemporary playground, totally worth a look (or a climb).
What’s your latest discovery?
That I’m actually 37, not 38. I spent a good part of this year convinced I was older than I am.
Okay, quickfire round. What’s your theme song to your life?
The Macarena. I swear I’ve heard it at least once a year since primary school.
Where’s the best seat in the house at Peaches and why?
The bench seat outside the front of Peaches will really come into its own in summer, perfect for a quick iced coffee and a chat with a pal.
Sum up Peaches in three words.
All Very Welcome.

What does your family think your job is?
My daughter swears I “sell sauce” and my husband insists I “just move boxes around.”
