Say Hello to Our Boring® Friends and their Neat Places

With Alicia and Ruby, from Parrotdog Bar.

Say hello to our friends, Ruby and Alicia from Parrotdog. A placed certified 'neat' by locals and out-of-towners alike, Parrotdog Bar is an easygoing and retro pub slash tavern tucked behind the dunes of Lyall Bay in Wellington.

We asked the team at Parrotdog Bar a few boring questions so you can get to know them, and their neat place, a little better.

Tell us a little bit about your role at Parrotdog.

Ruby: I'm the Bar Manager at Parrotdog Bar which includes staff management, stock management & general vibes management. I’m very people focused so I enjoy being on the front line and providing those amazing experiences at any opportunity, whether that's a big event or day to day regular lunch service.

Alicia: I am the head chef at Parrotdog Bar, I curate the menu and spearhead a busy venue whilst providing those classic burgers to our customers.

What’s your favourite Wellington meal?

Ruby: A big fat juicy well cooked steak and vege from El Matador will never disappoint, paired with an Argentinian red wine.

Alicia: Anything Tandoori Chicken from Taste Of India on Cambridge Terrace.

Where’s the best seat in the house and why?

Ruby: It’s got to be the bar booths because you can see all the action happening. You can see the bar team, kitchen team & DJ.

Alicia: Cosy booth on either side of the slats, it's got the best lighting and best position in the middle of the bar, making you feel nice and centred.

What’s something in Wellington you think everyone should experience at least once?

Ruby: That really cool slide in Roseneath. It's especially cool for someone who is from London, a very flat place surrounded by concrete buildings.

Alicia: A cycle around the bays, it’s flat and it’s freaking beautiful. Head out from Lyall, past Scorching, around Evans to Oriental. Pack yourself a picnic and a Parrotdog Beer.

Ok, quickfire round. What's the theme song to your life?

Ruby: Bootylicious - Destiny's Child

Alicia: Got to give it up - Marvin Gaye

What’s your desert island dish?

Ruby: Jerk Chicken

Alicia: Tommy Millions Pepperoni Pizza
